Daily Devotion
The traditional rhythm of worship through the day, and the festivals on the horizon
The rhythm of the day
In the Srivaishnava tradition, the day is woven around remembrance of the Lord. These are the customary periods of devotion observed at home and at the temple. Times are guidance rather than fixed appointments; observe them as your circumstances allow.
Suprabhatam
Before sunrise
The Lord is awakened with the Venkatesha Suprabhatam. Bathe, light a lamp, and begin the day with these auspicious verses.
Morning worship
Early morning
Offer prayers and the recitation of the Vishnu Sahasranama. A simple naivedyam (food offering) may be placed before the deity.
Midday remembrance
Noon
A brief pause for namasmarana — repeating the divine names — and gratitude before the midday meal.
Sandhya and Deepa
At dusk
Light the evening lamp, offer the Sandhya prayers, and chant a few verses as the day draws to a close.
Ekanta seva
Before rest
The Lord is offered rest. Conclude the day with a quiet shloka and surrender (sharanagati) before sleep.
Upcoming festivals
Major festivals observed through the year. Exact dates follow the lunar calendar; the windows below indicate the typical Gregorian months.
